2016 is almost here! January 1st will be on the calendar tomorrow and another year will have started. And in keeping with tradition, a new year brings with it a chance to set ourselves a few 2016 goals. But having said that, we all know, deep down, if we were to make a few ‘life changes‘ (sounds so serious!) it could be done at any moment in time, and an arbitrary date of January 1st doesn’t make it any different to August 16th or or December 31st for that matter! So how about January 4th 2016?
Next week I’m starting my own ‘challenge’ of sorts, well, it’s really more of an experiment in yoga-for-runners. I’ve always been intrigued by the different lineages and styles of ‘yoga’ and which type might be best suited to runners. And so on Monday I’m going to start a month of practicing ‘Ashtanga’ yoga. In February I’ll take up ‘Bikram’, and then in March ‘Core Power Yoga’. See where I’m going with this… it’s as simple as A, B, C. I’ll be using the online yoga classes via YogaGlo and also attending classes when I can. I’m excited to see what it will be like to follow one style of yoga at a time and dive deeper into the methods behind the yoga – sharing what I discover and learn with everyone via this blog and social media.
Oiselle are also hosting a fun #runlovechallenge Simply sign up with a partner – and hold each other accountable as you work towards a goal for Feb 14th 2016. Read more online HERE.
The Retracing Routledge exhibition has been going well and is open for a two more weeks in January 2016. If you haven’t had a chance yet to pop along to the Crown Street Gallery in Darlington there is still time!
It’s currently a bright and sunny December day here in England but before the New Year’s Eve celebrations begin it’s time for a track session and a little yoga to stretch out the kinks!
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!
Happy Trails in 2016.
