Today is National Running Day. Sounds like one big happy party.
But not everybody loves going for a run. I have many friends who admit running is purely something they make themselves do to ‘keep in shape’. There are many people who can’t think of anything worse than going for a run. ‘You’re mad’ – a suggestion many runners have heard before. But little do they know that running can actually prevent us from going mad. Seriously.
I’ll keep this brief, but for whatever reason, some people, at certain times of their lives need something extra to feel real & awake. This can manifest in addiction, and lead to depression or vice-a-versa. But running releases a variety of natural neurotransmitters, such as endorphins – uppers. Yes, running is a high you can get for free – read it HERE.
I’d like to dedicate this post to all those who have found running to be the greatest form of escape. Running creates moments away from the world, and if we want – we can have them all to ourselves – to stay sane in this crazy world.
CSS often remind me:
Run, run, run
To make your heart shake
Happy National Running Day
