This week the HURT folks put on an excellent fund raising event for a local ultrarunner named George. The trail race was held on the North Shore of Oahu, more famous for it’s waves than trails, but the shaded, swooping single-track was also definitely world-class! The trail system was part of the Pupukea Paumalu Forest Reserve – and is also excellent for mountain biking.
As per the race director’s instructions I joined everyone else in delivering to George a big hug and kiss at the 4-mile drinks station! The race marshalls had arranged excellent motivational signs along the route, such as ‘George says his mother can run faster than you’…
And as race t-shirts go, this one was of the best, ever:
This weekend there are no trail races, but for everyone in Hawaii attempting to qualify for the Kona Ironman there is the Honu 70.3 event on the Big Island. Our friend Alex is heading out on Thursday for the event, so I’d better go and deliver his energy bars!
Good Luck everyone competing this weekend!
Why not consider adding some yoga into your recovery next week – great advice from the Live Strong team HERE.
