Untapped sources of potential energy and creativity lay within each and every one of us, and how we use that energy depends on a number of different factors. It may be how we feel, what we believe in, or what we consider a good use of our time.
Prioritising our ‘time’ nowadays seems to be a major component of how we live, but how many of us take time during the day to stop, listen, think and look? Both yoga and running are great ways to do this, and can create opportunities for meditative reflection on this lovely life, but what if we wanted to try and capture moments from those activities – and express them artistically?
Photography is an ideal medium for making pure reflection more permanent, and then sharing those images with others is half the beauty of taking photographs. There are a group of people out snapping moments this October (look up #OctPhotoChallenge), maybe you can join in?
But in the words of Willa Cather, I think many of us will agree:
“The stream and the broken pottery: what was any art form but an effort to make a sheath, a mould in which to imprison for a moment the shining, elusive element which is life itself – life hurrying past us and running away, too strong to stop, to sweet to lose?”
